On the peninsula, Charleston has a seemingly endless supply of perfect wedding venues but there are many just outside the city with the same low country charm. An Island House wedding on Johns Island just south of Charleston offers exemplary scenery and a gorgeous house perfect for portraits and nearly every wedding theme. Audrey envisioned a southern, bohemian chic wedding day with Miguel and the Island House was a fantastic choice for their event. Haley met up with Audrey as she was spending time with her bridesmaids at the Island House. Her gown was a lace, off-the-shoulder top with an airy, gossamer skirt. Glittery ballet flats were the perfect compliment to her beautiful ensemble. Audrey looked absolutely incredible. As she stood on the balcony overlooking the grounds, the seats filled slowly.
Down below, Miguel was quite handsome in his silvery blue-grey suit with white textured bow tie. The late spring afternoon was hot and sticky save for a slight river breeze. Lush pink and pale orange roses were the stars of the arrangements dotting the rows and encircling the beautiful arbor. When Audrey made her way down the aisle and stood next to Miguel, her lace was beautiful next to the soft colors of the flowers. The two said their vows, swore to love each other forever, and sealed it up with a sweet kiss! It was time to party!
Before the reception kicked into high gear, Haley was able to steal the newlyweds away for a few portraits. The Island House has a field of wildflowers that add a beautiful burst of color to portraits. And check out that dramatic dip! We adore that even after a long day, these two were still ready to try something a bit new for that one memorable moment. After spending time with the wedding party, Haley snapped a few photos of Audrey in front of some of the island’s greenery and then everyone headed to the house for comfort food and a whole lot of fun!
Palmetto roses greeted guests as they arrived for the cocktail hour and the feel of the low country was in the air all night long. The pink and orange bouquets served as centerpieces and were the perfect compliment to the pale pink linens around the reception. Accents of pink, white and gold were everywhere, creating a romantic and inviting atmosphere. We ALWAYS look forward to seeing how couples take traditions and make them their own, especially a guest book. For Audrey and Miguel, they had everyone sign a large F (the first letter of their last name). It was a really fun idea.
Long after the sun went down and the party in high gear, Audrey and Miguel could be seen just holding on to one another and laughing with their friends and family. The cake had been cut and everyone was letting loose, simply having a blast. It was a shame to see the newlyweds head out but adventure was calling and they had to answer. Beneath a shower of glow sticks, they ventured out into the night, hand-in-hand waiting to be whisked away into the new chapter in their lives.
Thank you so much for bringing us into your family for such a beautiful day. We had a blast spending time with you and wish you both nothing but the best moving forward together. Congratulations again!
